Flat-top guitar
(Champion model)
Gallo Industries
The Netherlands, mid 1950's

John Lennon purchased this modest guitar by mail for only 10 pounds (about $28) and was playing it when he met Paul McCartney in 1957. Trading up to an electric soon after, he left this instrument in the care of his Aunt Mimi, who later added the headstock plaque commemorating her early warning against a career in music-"Remember-you'll never earn your living by it."
